In this list, we'll go over a few essential hotkeys that I use everyday. From file management to web browsing and text manipulation, these shortcuts are game-changers for a few very common tasks.
Visual Studios:
- Ctrl + Shift + F9: Easily remove all breakpoints in the current project
- Ctrl + G: Quickly jump to a spesific line in the current file
- Shift + F12: On a variable this will find all the times that variable is referenced
- F12: On a function call this will jump you directly to the function definition
Web Browsers:
- Ctrl + Tab and Ctrl + Shift + Tab: Quickly navigate between browser windows
- Ctrl + T: Open a new tab in your web browser for easy multitasking during web browsing.
- Ctrl + Shift + T: Reopen recently closed web browser tabs, regaining lost information in case of accidental closing.
- Ctrl + W: Swiftly close web browser tabs to keep your digital workspace organized. Don't forget Ctrl + Shift + T to reopen that tab if you didn't mean to close it.
- Alt + D: Quickly place your cursor in the address bar of a web browser tab for easy navigation.
- Ctrl + D: Bookmark web pages to help you save relevant information.
Windows:
- Alt + Tab: Quickly switch between open windows, making for easier multitasking and comaprisons.
- Windows Key + E: Open a new File Explorer window instantly.
- Ctrl + Shift + S: Capture screenshots by drawing an area on your Windows screen without additional software.
- F2: Rename the selected file in most applications and in Windows File Explorer
- Windows Key + V: Access and choose from your clipboard history with a single hotkey.
